Pre-Garrison GeoBase at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Tom Murphy Little Rock AFB, Arkansas was presented with two opportunities—the need for a base comprehensive plan (BCP) for development as well as the installation of new communications physical plan. Base leadership recognized the importance of up-to-date, accurate geospatial information to support these two important efforts. As a result, large scale digital planimetric and topographic base mapping, GPS utility data collection, subsurface utility engineering, GPS utility data collection, and creation of a GIS user interface were performed. To effectively access the many hard copy drawings of the 314 Civil Engineering Squadron (CES), a facilities inventory database was created to help manage a digital vault management system (DVMS) of scanned record drawings and floor plans. This forerunner to today’s Garrison GeoBase formed a strong foundation for all BCP components and an accurate, effective toolbox for the design and installation of the new communications physical plant.
